Garnier Micellar Water | Is it my Holy Grail? | Skincare Review

Hello all, it has been a while hasn't it? I am trying to get back into blogging again. I have countless posts in my draft section and I thought it is really time I bit the bullet again. I've been feeling a bit down and deflated recently, I am saving up for the trip of a lifetime with my wonderful boyfriend, working crazy hours and saving every penny, I need somewhere to lay down my thoughts and make the months go quicker!

I thought it would be fun to kick it off with a classic skincare favourite; the Garner Micellar Water.

Now I am not going to lie to you all here - I am no skincare expert. I'm 23 years old and it has only been in the last few years that I have developed some sort of 'skincare routine'. I used to just grab a face wipe and swipe everything off in one go - yes, I was that girl. I have always been super lucky with my skin with only a couple of spots now and again which I guess paid tribute to my laziness. I don't actually know how long I've been repurchasing the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, probably since around 2012, but what I can tell you is that it is this product that converted me. No more face wipes were ever purchased! *lies* - wouldn't that just be the perfect world?! Face wipes have still been used after nights out and emergency removals, but, I have always gone back to Garner Micellar Water and today I am going to tell you the reasons why.

  • It is kind to skin; I don't have particularly sensitive skin, but I can be victim to dry patches in the colder months and a few pimples on my chin and forehead. The micellar water has never irritated my skin at all, which is a complete winner in my eyes! There is no fragrance to the cleanser which is nice and feels very refreshing.
  • It is affordable; as I mentioned, I discovered Garner Micellar water back in 2012 when I was student, I'm pretty sure I read about it in the blogging world. I needed a product that wasn't going to break the bank and something I could easily get hold of. I have always bought the 400ml size bottle, which is huge and lasts me months on end but there is also a 700ml size available! The 400ml is normally around £5 (but can often be caught on offer for £3) and the 700ml is priced at £8 (but again, can often be on offer for £5). If I ever see them on offer I tend to grab one or two bottles which I know will last me for a good 6 months. Can't complain really can ya!
  • It removes all makeup; with the Garner Micellar Water you can absolutely guarantee that it will take off every last smudge of makeup, yes even waterproof eye make up! My favourite thing about this product is that you don't have to scrub at your face leaving your eyes all red and puffy. Apply some product to a cotton wool pad, hold it over your eye for 10-15 seconds and gently swipe your make up away, I then repeat this step to ensure everything is gone.

So there we have it, the wonderful Garner Micellar Water. I do believe the product was the first 'drugstore' micellar water to get any sort of attention and I certainly understand why. It most definitely is my holy grail skincare product.

Have you tried it yet? I definitely recommend giving this product a go, you can pick up a travel size from Boots for £1.99 if you would just like to test it out first. Let me know in the comments below!

Life On Camp | Sandy Ridge Summer 2017 | Camp America

Hello everyone, it has been a little bit longer than I wanted it to be, but hey ho, I'm here now. I've officially been back in the U.K. for a whole month. I've caught up with my family and friends, shown everyone all my pictures, sang endless camp songs in my head and chewed the ear off my boyfriend about daily life on camp. I've now ran out of people to talk to and stories to tell, so I've decided to write a blogpost dedicated to my time spent at a summer camp in America for the past 3 months. This post is mainly for my own memories, something to look back on to remember my days on camp, somewhere to store my favourite pictures and a way to channel all my thoughts about my experience as a camp counsellor. But, if you are thinking of applying to work at a summer camp, or are completely curious as to what it's like, or just enjoy having a good 'ole nose like me, then read on and enjoy!

Spring OOTD | Gingham Gal | My First Outfit Post

Spring is most definitely my favourite season when it comes to fashion and style. The big bulky winter coats are gone and there is enough warmth to show off lots of different pieces without getting too hot. It is the perfect weather to style funky sleeves and quirky cuts. I wanted to do a spring lookbook here on my blog, buuuut I am still learning about this big ole blogging world and a lookbook seemed a little ambitious. So, without further ado, here is my first little outfit post, I think the term is an 'outfit of the day', or if you're really cool a #ootd.

A New Way to Make Friends?! | Eating Mexican with Bumble and Em Sheldon | Cielo Blanco Leeds

Look how beautiful Cielo Blanco in Leeds is! On Wednesday of this week, I was kindly invited to have dinner at Cielo Blanco with a group full of lovely inspirational ladies. We were all invited by the incredible blogger Em Sheldon (Em Talks is her blog) and the dinner was in collaboration with the new app called Bumble, more on what the app is about later, but first lets talk food!

Summer Plans 2017 : Camp America 2017 | I Am Going To Be a Camp America Story Teller!

Hi everyone, this post is going to be a little different today. Some of you might seen on my other social media platforms (mainly twitter) that very very soon I will be flying off to America for a big summer adventure! Back in December I was placed at a summer camp in South Carolina, now I can't believe how quickly the time has passed.... In two weeks time I will have arrived at camp and be on my lifeguard training course!

I'll be spending most of my time at Sandy Ridge Girls Scout Camp in Bennettsville, South Carolina. However when I'm not on duty I'll be travelling around the area, if you have any recommendations for that side if America please leave me some comments!

I had planned to post about all my adventures, about how I have prepared for camp and what camp life is like. Today I got a very exciting email, I am officially going to be a Camp America Story Teller! My lovely friend Jemma tagged me in an advertisement on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. Camp America were calling all social media lovers to join the team as 'Story Tellers'. I applied straight away and today got the good news that I have been successful.

I can't wait to be starting my adventure next week, I'm going to be keeping you all updated here on my blog and I've been thinking about starting a YouTube channel to run alongside my little slice of the internet. I'm hoping to film and upload weekly vlogs to my YouTube channel Elle du Jour to showcase all my adventures, and so I will always have this summer documented to look back on in the future. What do you think?

Let me know your thoughts and do you have any tips about weekly vlogging!

As part of my application to be a Story Teller I had to make a video introducing myself, it's only a short one but I am quite proud of what I achieved with the 3 day deadline. Check it out below. I would love to hear some feedback, please be kind, it's my first time in front of the camera and my first time at editing.

The Blogger Essentials Box || Dot Creates || Stationary and Organisation

Well hello there, I'm back... I've been away, for a little while, oh come on it was only 20 days. Look on the bright side, it wasn't another 365 days! This week I'm here to chat to you about the amaaaazing package that arrived through the post the other week. I've also seen that this week is National Stationary Week.. or something along those lines, so even if I do say so myself, this post couldn't be any more fitting could it? See, I might keep you waiting but it's all for good reason! Anyway, shall I get on with it?

It is OKAY to not have your SH*T together | Elle du Jour | Tea Talks

Turning 23 this year has led me to think about where I am in my life. When I got to 22 I kinda thought, oh wow, I'm not 21 (duh) but seriously, at 21 you feel like you've just spread your wings, you are officially an adult, but also young enough to get away with acting childish. Year 22 speeds round the corner and you're like oooooh that's a bit different, but before you know it 23 is looming and I'm starting to feel nearer to 30 than anything else. But the question is, at what age is it that you seriously start thinking of yourself as a 'woman' without cringing at the thought of that label?

Dinner with Em Sheldon | Tasting Zizzi's Spring Menu | #ZIZZICREATES

Many of you might have seen on my social media channels that I attended a very special dinner the other night. I was so so so lucky to be invited to spend the evening with my absolute idol, Em Sheldon. If you didn't already know (if you've been hiding under a rock), Em is a blogger and YouTuber, and quite a successful one at that. Em invited myself and four others to have dinner with her at the Italian chain restaurant called Zizzi's.

Once we arrived, we were all greeted with some lovely 'Skinny Prosecco', now I'm not at all a calorie counter but this has something like 67 kcals per 100ml, you know what they say, every little helps! We all sat down happily sipping and chatting away, introducing ourselves to one another and getting to know each others stories.

Zizzi's had very kindly invited us to exclusively preview their new spring menu, so between lots of chats, prosecco and giggles the lovely team at Zizzi's brought out three courses for us to enjoy. I can tell you now, everything is so so so delicious and there are lots of options for everyone, including anyone who has dietary requirements.

A Day in York | Elle Voyage

Living in West Yorkshire I am lucky to live in the beautiful countryside (in the middle of nowhere) but also have a handful of cities on my doorstep, one of them being the beautiful York. If you follow me on Instagram (if you don't, then why not?! Hehe just click this link to follow!) then you will have seen that last week I decided to spend my day off wandering the streets of this old historic city with no real plan. I took my camera with me and snapped a few pictures... so here's what I got up to!

Zoella Lifestyle | Candles & Diffusers | My Thoughts

I am a self obsessed candle addict, and I'm pretty sure Zoella is too. Every so often there is a Bath and Body Works haul over on Zoella's youtube channel, I'm always oogling over the wonderfully sounding scents and wishing I could get my hands on them without the huge shipping prices. Last autumn the Zoella Lifestyle range was launched, I think this range is aimed at a slightly older audience than the Zoella Beauty range. The packaging is more mature and the range includes a selection of candles, reed diffusers, a travel cup, a keyring and stationary.
