Living in the age of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Blogger, and any other social media platform out there, it is so easy to get sucked into a way of living ‘online’. Now, some of you may be thinking, but wait, you are a blogger, you put your life online, and yes, yes that is true. But, the purpose of today’s post is to remind you all, and maybe myself, to not ‘loose’ ourselves in this ‘online world’.
With no exams, no stress of deadlines and long summer days stretching out ahead, I’ve noticed myself spending more time on these, so called, social media platforms. I’ve recently had to remind myself that they are just that, they are platforms, they are not a true representation of somebody’s life. It is terribly easy to get sucked into the online world and compare ourselves to so-and-so’s instagram account or this person’s profile picture and that person’s twitter account.
This is my way of saying, the online world may seem beautiful and faultless, but just remember, everyone has bad days and everyone uses filters. Don’t compare yourself to anybody ever, but especially not to someone’s online profile.
It is important to remind ourselves now and again to switch off, not just your mind, but also your phone, tablet, laptop, whatever it may be, switch it off and go outside, live in the moment. Forget about how good your snapchat story is and focus on your life story.
Lots of love, Elle xxx
