As you can guess from the title, Motivational Mondays are back! This week I am going to talk about how important it is to just let go sometimes, take a chance because you never know how things might turn out.
This weekend I accepted my offer to study a masters course at the University of St. Andrews starting in September. I'm not going to lie to you, I am terrified.
I applied for the masters course back in February along with another 4 different universities, when I look back I think I must have been under some sever stress and slightly delusional... what on earth made me think that I would ever be offered a place to study at one of the top three universities in the country?! When I received my offer I just couldn't quite believe my eyes and I knew that I could not turn this opportunity down.
Now I'm still terrified at the prospect but I'm telling myself to believe in myself. I am going to St. Andrews, I am going to study there and I deserve my place just as much as everyone else that will be sat in my lectures. As the old cliche goes... we only regret the chances we didn't take.
I've realised that I recognise this old feeling of fear mixed with excitement and complete craziness. Two years ago I had just been accepted onto my year abroad course. My year in Slovenia turned out to be the best year of my life, I changed as a person, began to appreciate life in a very different light, learnt a lot about myself and met people that I would consider friends for life. I never expected half of that and two years ago 90% of me wanted to turn back at the airport and cancel everything.
This year I'm going to take on more challenges and chances in life, big or small, it may make all the difference! Sometimes these chances will end in complete failures and I'll feel hurt and disappointment but I'm prepared for that. The good will end up weighing out the bad so what's a few little obstacles here and there?
Who is going to join me? Have you taken some chances recently? How do you feel about them? Tell me all about it in the comments.
Lots of love, Elle xxx
