The Liebster Award!

Hey lovelies!

So picture this... I was on my way to town the other night with my lovely uni friends and in the taxi (a little merry) I got an email saying that the lovely Carly from http://www.glittersecrets.blogspot.fr/ (check out her blog its a really good read!) had been kind enough to nominate me for the Liebster Award! I was over the moon, eventhough told the taxi man! Haha you can guess that it was a pretty good night after that!

I have always read about The Leibster Award but never ever imagined I would be nominated for it!

Here are the rules just incase you are unaware..
  • You must answer the 11 questions given to you by the nominee
  • Share 11 facts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 great blogs which have less than 200 followers and make sure you make them aware that you have chosen them.
  • Finally.. ask them 11 new questions.
Of course, don't forget to link back to the person who nominated you! :)

The 11 questions from Carly at Glitter Secrets are...

1. What is your favourite item of clothing?

This would definitely have to be high waisted colourful jeans! I love the way they flatter my figure and I think that they most definitely look coolest in some whacky crazy colour, especially during summer.

2.If you could live anywhere, where would that be and why?

This is a tough one, if it was right now and not permanently I would love to go live somewhere in the states for a year or two as I have never been and would love to experience the lifestyle and culture of a true american.

3. Would you like to go sky diving?

Of course! This is on my life to-do list!

4. Who is your inspiration?

In terms of blogging it would definitely be a mix of Fleur de Force and Meg's Budget Boutique. In terms of general life that is pretty tricky but I think I would have to say Blake Lively because I just have the biggest girl crush on her.

5. What is the best decision you have made?

Probably to carry on learning Italian as nowadays, a second language is one of the most looked for skills in graduates. Also, it is fun to be able to speak another language!

6. Would you rather live in the country or in the city?

Definitely the city, I do love the country, perfect for the weekends but I have lived in both and prefer the city.

7. What have you learned today?

Something or other about the UN in a very early lecture this morning?

8. If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet?

Marilyn Monroe.

9. If you were a type of animal, what would you be and why?

A tiger, because they are so beautiful, gracious and powerful!

10. What embarrasses you?

Not a lot really, I don't get embarassed very often.

11. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Definitely the way they present themselves, so body posture and if they make eye contact or look at you, I was always brought up to think that you must look at someone when they are talking to you otherwise you can come across as being very rude!

The 11 random facts about myself:
  1. I have lived in Italy and can speak Italian
  2. I have never dyed my hair
  3. I have been to 9 different schools.. being the new girl comes naturally now!
  4. I don't like tea or coffee
  5. My all time favourite smell is fresh cut grass
  6. I study international relations and politics and university and however boring and nerdy it sounds I absolutely love it!
  7. I used to be the biggest geek in the world, I came in the top six in the country for my exam results when I was 11
  8. I wish I was Blake Lively
  9. Nobody knows about my blog, not my parents, my friends at home or my friends at uni.
  10. I love snickers bars, I have a slight obsession with them... or quite a large one really I just don't like to admit it.
  11. I am from London
The lovely blogs I have been reading recently and would like to nominate are:

http://kimbo95x.blogspot.co.uk/
http://aprilrose-xo.blogspot.co.uk/
http://pariswhenitspink.blogspot.co.uk/
http://kellylouiseshareswithyou.blogspot.co.uk/
http://lissinc.blogspot.co.uk/

I have only just started my blog recently so unfortunately don't have 11 yet!

My 11 questions are:
  1. What was the last thing you did that you really enjoyed?
  2. If you could be an animal, which would it be?
  3. What is your favourite season of the year and why?
  4. If you had to pick on beauty/makeup product to have for the rest of your life with nothing else, what would it be?
  5. What is your favourite interesting fact that you know?
  6. Favourite all time book/novel?
  7. Would you rather live in a cold country or a hot country, or somewhere with both hot and cold seasons?
  8. Why do you blog, and what do you blog about?
  9. Who is your inspiration?
  10. What colour are your nails right now?
  11. Wizards or Vampires?

This was really fun, hope you take part and enjoy it as much as I did!

Hi lovelies,

So here I am, back in Bristol! It has now snowed A LOT here too, it's like it is following me around the country. My travel blog sequel will carry on as we still have a lot of Italy to explore and Corfu in Greece which was on of my favourite stops!

Anywhoo, for now I must get back to this essay :| oh the joys, I suppose I can't complain after having 5 weeks off. Off to the gym later as well for a circuits session sporting my new gym gear! Wooo I will be thin by spring!

Sorry for the breif update but I hope you all understand :) Let me know what you guys have been up to or tweet me if you would prefer! @ElleThorpe1

Snow Day!

Hey lovelies,

Instagram photo of the walk

How are you all? I hope everyone's Monday wasn't too bad yesterday, I apologise for the recent lack of posts but I have been very very busy getting ready to go back to university in Bristol, trying to get everything packed and all my Christmas presents back down there! It is a NIGHTMARE, nothing fits! So there's my lame excuse for being absent for the past week. If it snowed by you I hope you went out to play like I did, this is just a quick chatty post to say hi I am alive and here are some pretty and funny pictures I took yesterday whilst walking the dogs in the snow with my friend. Up here in Yorkshire where my parents live we get a lot of snow compared to down south!

Doggies!

Icicles!

If you haven't had any snow where you are then you can have a gaze at these pictures and imagine you were there! Hope you all have a fantastic rest of the week, I'm travelling back down to Bristol tomorrow, 5 hour journey here I come! Wooooooo.. NOT. Ah well I'm sure I will get plenty of work done on the way.

January Sales 2013 Haul - Mixup!

Hey lovelies!

When I makes a promise I always make sure I stick to it, because I do not like people who don't! So as promised I have another haul for you girlies! Wooooooo! This haul is also from when I went shopping with my mother the other day but these are items that are not from River Island they are from various shops! I personally feel like this year January sales had been pretty successful for me, I know that a lot of people would disagree and say this year hasn't been as good and cheap as other but I guess I have just been lucky! :)

Firstly I would like you all the brace yourself, I popped into Office completely out of the blue just to have a look at what it had to offer. Now GET YOURSELF THERE! The sale at the shoe store Office is absolutely incredible. DRUMROLL pleaaaaaaaase...

These beautiful 'statement wedges' were reduced from a whopping £75 to a mere £20! I have recently been looking for a new pair of standard black wedges that will go with everything for those uni nights out. I instantly fell in love with these, even though they are very tall, they are sooo comfy due to the mahoooooosive platform. They are a beautiful black suede and I know I will definitely get my wear out of them for just £20!

I tell you now, I was a very happy little bunny! At one point I was trying on about 5 different pairs of heels, seriously go and check Office out for some bargain heels! I was a little upset after a lovely purple/mauve/red grape colour (I am the worst at describing colours) just wouldn't fit my feet properly :( The size 5 was too small and size 6 too big. But ah well I cant be too greedy now can I!

This skirt and velvet top were both from Urban Outfitters, one of my favourite shops at the moment! The sale in there is absolutely amazing, most things are over 50% off! Took my mother in there and she had never heard of the shop and now loves the place and thinks it is 'stylish and trendy' haha! The skirt is a long pencil skirt, I haven't owned one of these before and I am so excited to try it out mixing and matching it with different tops and shoes. This skirt was originally £35 but reduced down to £15, when I got to the till the skirt scanned through as £10 plus my student discount, this number cost me a whole £9! I was CHUFFED!
The top is also a strange choice for me, this black velvet crop top/roll neck - I do not know how to describe this at all! Anywhooo, this lovely fitting crop top comes to just mid way between the bottom of your lady bumps and belly button so obviously you can only wear it with anything high waisted but that suits me so it's no problemo! :) This top was £25 reduced to £10.

Now now now, this cheeky little number was also a bit of an experiment for me! I have never ever owned a boob tube in my life and never really thought them to be very attractive. However seen as this was going for £2 in Primark after being reduced from £10 I thought I could give it a whirl and see if I could work it! We'll see how it goes....

These are also two Primark buys, the jacket is a simple black short jacket that goes with everything, and will be handy during spring as it is not too thick but will keep the chill out, reduced to £10 from £25. The dress is now named as 'the french dress' as apparently I look like I should be on a bicycle riding round Paris with some french bread! Haha how stereotypical. But yes I originally bought this because I urgently needed something to wear to work that night and as it was reduced to £5 thought it was perfect! But I can see myself reaching for this more often, especially in the summer months.

PRIMARK IS SELLING GYM/ WORK OUT CLOTHES! I literally went crazy when I walked in Primark in Leeds I was so happy to see all the work out clothes. Lately I have been looking for some new clothes for the gym but I just haven't been able to bring myself to pay the full price of like £30 when all I'm going to do is sweat in the clothes?! So I picked up these lovely 3/4 length gym pants with pink stripes down the side, there was also green available. These cost £8 which is fantastic :) I also invested in a new sports bra which was only £5 so will see how that goes. There were plenty of other items including tops, jackets, long trousers and I'm sure I will end up wandering in there soon to pick something else up!

And there we have it... My 'mixup' haul! I'm really pleased with my purchases this month and feel like I have treated myself way too much! Were you successful in this years January sales? Post a comment or link to let me know how you got on! Outfit of the Day posts should be soon, promise! :) So keep checking back to see how I style all my new buys!

Hope you are all having a lovely week and planning a great weekend of partying or resting whatever takes your fancy.

Till next time,

River Island Haul - January Sales!

Happy New Year everyone!

Hope all you lovely people are having a great 2013 so far, I have as I am pretty sure many of you have been, raiding these January sales! I hope you have also all enjoyed the first weekend of 2013, I have had a very successful one! My mother and I decided to take a trip to Leeds to emerge ourselves into the fantastic and irresistible January sales. I was not planning on spending tooo much money but surely it can be justified due to all the money being saved due to the sale prices! Surely...?

River Island was a very successful shop today and so I thought I would make a separate post and then merge all the rest of the shops together!

Casual vest. £22 reduced to £10
I really like this vest as it is so casual and will match any colour jeans or trousers but also looks girly and has that touch of glam thanks to the small gold studs.

Staple black dress - £35 reduced to £15 but bought for £10
Well, well, well this dress! I love how simple this LBD is but a touch of detail with the gold studs and padded shoulders, although you may be able to notice that a stud is missing on the right hand side so I sneakily asked for an extra reduction and got this little number for £10, what a bargain!

Top - £25 reduced to £10
This top is black which isn't a colour I will normally go for however I feel that the cute flower beads add that touch of feminism. Love wearing these with my disco pants!

Jeans - £35 reduced to £15
So I admit these are a little CRAZY! Haha but I love them and I don't care what anyone else says! They are perfect skinny tight fit and I absolutely love wearing them!

Disco pants - £30 reduced to £15
Purple disco pants very similar to the America Apparel ones but a lot A LOT cheaper, so if you are looking for a pair River Island is the place, great fit and quality.

Shorts - £22 reduced to £10
Okay I apologise about the picture, I couldn't get a decent one these are black high waisted shorts and feel like they could go with absolutely everything for any occasion! I could wear these daily with tights and a casual top of dress them up with heels and accessories for a night out!

So I hope you have all enjoyed this post about my spendings this month..oops! Maybe you have seen something you like and may go on a crazy search in these sales?! Haha, there is another post coming with a whole mixture of other stuff from elsewhere in the sales so keep your eyes peeled! Leave a comment with some of the bargains you have snapped up this month!

Hope everyone's Monday wasn't too bad and the week doesn't go too slow!

Hello 2013!

Happy New Year everyone!

Hope everyone had a fantastic New Years Eve and thoroughly enjoyed staying in bed all day for the first day of 2013 as I did! I thought it was time to do a New Year, New Resolutions post as last year I didn't even make any resolutions and all year I felt very guilty!

Ten things I would like to achieve this year would be...

1. Pass my first year of uni with a good grade.
2. Put more time and effort into my blog.
3. Learn to cook properly, using recipes and cooking meals from scratch more often.
4. Plan to go travelling again during the summer.
5. Be more organised and be better at managing my time.
6. Find a healthy eating and fitness regime I can stick to.
7. Visit my friends unis.
8. Style my hair more often.
9. Go snowboarding.
10. Figure out what I want to do once I've graduated.

Hopefully I will look back at this post in a year to come and be really pleased about my progress and be able to tick the majority! However we will have to wait and see :)

Leave a comment including your New Year Resolutions or link my to your post!
